Scary to Realize

Somatic Personal Practice

It is scary to realize that I don’t know what is true and what is not true, that I don’t know what feelings, emotions and thoughts to trust, even within myself.

But it is necessary to realize this. Because when we trust everything we feel, then we take actions that don’t actually support getting what we want, and that hurt ourselves and others in the process.

I am willing to be humble and curious. I am open to disbelieving those things that I thought were true, but which originated in activation and fear.

In the heat of activation – fear, hurt or anger – it doesn’t seem possible to not believe what my thoughts are saying, what my body seems to be saying. Yet that is exactly what we need to learn to do – with patience, curiosity and discernment, without either bullying ourselves into ignoring or dismissing our feelings, nor fully indulging in everything our feelings are saying.
