Receiving Kindness in Confusion

It’s ok to feel confused, discombobulated, and disoriented.

It’s ok to not know what you feel or to not know what you “should” be feeling.

This is uncomfortable but normal when we have past trauma, especially developmental or prolonged trauma.

When this is how you feel, one key assignment is to slow down and to be gentle, curious and kind to yourself, as much as you can.

Another assignment, if you can do it, is to remember, imagine, notice, or receive kindness and support from others.

Lather, rinse, repeat. The patterns are deep, so we can repeatedly forget to turn toward receiving kindness from ourselves and from others.
