Navigating Shame

For some of us, it doesn’t work to set a goal of not feeling shame.

Some people can extricate from shame in a shortish time with some solid support.

For others of us, the shame is going to be around for a while. So then the goals are to learn how to:

– not believe what the shame is saying

– have the shame take up less space in us

– be able to relate to things that feel good and neutral, to be able to relax and enjoy (relatively speaking) even when the shame is there.

We want to learn to experience shame as an annoying inconvenience and no longer as a destabilizing and debilitating force.
